Home Care Viable Option – Naples Daily News Published Letter

Home care viable option
November marks National Home Care Month. As the owners of a local private home health agency, we help elderly, ill and disabled people remain healthy, stable and out of costly settings like nursing homes every day.
Home care offers a cost-effective, dignified and highly, efficient model for extending active life at home.
Given the difference in care needs, acute versus chronic, models of home care by necessity have diversified. Medicare provides state-sponsored acute care at home, but the needs of those with chronic conditions are increasing.
With 10,000 people turning 65 years old every day, private home care has become well-organized and is an effective and necessary part of the long-term-care continuum.
Across our state, dedicated caregivers are working every day to enable people with chronic conditions to stay at home. Whether they are wives, daughters, husbands, sons, neighbors or professional caregivers, each of them plays an indispensable role in caring for our elderly and each and every one deserves recognition and appreciation.
Home care is a part of the solution that saves money, saves lives and keeps families together. It is an honor to be part of the industry as we celebrate National Home Care Month.
