When private hire home healthcare goes south

We have all heard home healthcare horror stories.  The story line generally consists of a private hire Home Health Aide stealing from vulnerable and unsuspecting individuals.  Recently the Naples Daily News reported such a story which was saddening and frightening.  A Home Health Aide who was privately hired and not vetted by the client, stole and then pawned the client’s personal jewelry.
It is  eye opening when we see such stories.  This is why, if you need home healthcare, including companion care, assistance with activities of daily living or skilled nursing care in your home, you should work with a licensed and accredited Home Health Agency.  McKenney Home Care’s Home Health Aides are vetted through the state level 2 Background system, we also check local court records to find “red flags”.  We check references and go through several rounds of interviews with our Aides.  Additionally, all McKenney Home Health Aides take a 106 question knowledge test and a hands on skills assessment in our “on site skills lab”.  A nurse will supervise the Aide in the home and if for any reason you believe the Aide that was assigned to your home is not a good fit,  you simply need to let us know and we will reassign someone better suited to your family. All Aides are W-2 employees and are required to complete our annual in-service training.  We pay for Workman’s Comp Insurance and the Agency is bonded and insured against potential losses incurred by a client.
Safety and peace of mind, that is what you will get with a professional, licensed, accredited Home Health Agency.  Please let us know if you need assistance in your home.
