McKenney Home Care is committed to providing you with the best communication and customer service in the industry. Our staff is available 24-hours a day, seven days a week including holidays. We offer free in-home consultations and home safety evaluations performed by a Registered Nurse at the start of your services and routinely thereafter based on the client’s needs. Furthermore, our caregivers and nurses are regularly supervised and evaluated to ensure that McKenney Home Care’s high service standards are met day after day.

An AARP survey conducted in 2006 found that nearly 90% of people age 50 and over want to stay in their homes as long as possible. More than 80% who need long term assistance receive it in the home. The reasoning is self-evident: If the home can be made a safe environment, it is the best option.

Home Health Agencies hire their own employees and employees are scheduled to care for clients under the management and supervision of agency staff. The agency is responsible for workers compensation and all employer taxes. Agencies carry general liability insurance and a dishonesty bond. Agencies assure that the employee has the right to work in the US, is free of communicable diseases, has the requisite training to perform services and has a background free of criminal offenses. The agency is responsible for all risks associated with work performed by the employee.

Nurse Registries on the other hand arrange for services of home care workers on an independent contractor basis. The workers are directed to care for clients, they are not employed by or supervised by the company. The registry is not responsible for workmen’s compensation or other employer taxes. Clients have exposure to risk when they employ individuals from a Nurse Registry and it is unclear exactly who the employer is, in fact the client may be responsible for all taxes and liability of the caregiver.

McKenney Home Care is a licensed Home Health Agency, authorized to provide “skilled” and “non-skilled” services in the home.

McKenney Home Care is licensed as a Home Health Agency by the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). It is also fully Accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC). ACHC is a third-party accreditation organization that has developed the highest national standards that providers are measured against in order to illustrate their ability to effectively and efficiently deliver quality healthcare services.

“Unskilled” or “Non-medical” care typically refers to companion and personal care activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, as well as assistance with meal preparation, light housekeeping, and running errands. It could also include medication reminders, assistance with ambulation, and transportation to medical appointments. These types of services are typically provided by Home Health Aides (HHAs) or Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and can be arranged for anywhere from 4 hours to 24-hours a day. “Unskilled” or “Non-medical” care is often sought by the elderly, new and expectant parents, individuals with disabilities, and those transitioning from a hospital or medical facility to home.

“Skilled” medical care follows a specific plan of care under the supervision of a Physician or Nurse (RN/LPN). Skilled medical care in the home can help provide a comforting solution to residing in a hospital, nursing home, or assisted living community. Services provided under “skilled” nursing may include: catheterization, g-tube care, home infusion therapy, medication administration or management, and /or many other duties which require RN/LPN licensure.

McKenney Home Care adheres to very high and strict standards for hiring our staff. Our Companions, HHAs, CNAs and Nurses are fully licensed, insured, and undergo thorough interviewing, testing, and screening prior to employment. This includes performance of national background checks, reference checks, license verifications when applicable, driver record screenings, and a formal orientation. Additionally, caregivers are regularly supervised and evaluated by management to ensure that you or your loved one is receiving the attention he or she deserves. We have continuing education requirements that are strictly enforced for our caregivers and an in house “Skills Lab” where we have the opportunity to review our Caregiver’s hands on skills before they are sent to your home.

The cost of our services varies on a case-by-case basis depending on the discipline required to meet the needs of our clients. McKenney Home Care coordinates billing with Long-Term Care Insurances, and we also accept private payment for services.

Although it does take time to match the right caregiver with a client, McKenney Home Care Services can typically place a caregiver within 24-hours, and often, the same day.
