Helpful Items to Bring for Chemo

Undergoing Chemotherapy is can be a daunting experience. Hospital and clinical settings are unnerving for many people. However, there are items one can bring to his or her infusion session to help make the trip brighter and more comfortable.

  • A blanket: Infusion clinics are often kept cold. Sitting in there for a long while can leave many feeling frigid. Socks are also good to have.
  • Hat, scarf, or beanie: For the same reason as above. For many, chemo can lead to hair-loss and items like these can help keep your head warm during the procedure. You could also wear a wig.
  • Snacks: While the clinic more than likely has its own snacks, brining you own guarantees you’ll have something you like to eat.
  • Entertainment: Chemo sessions can last a while, so it’s a good idea to bring something to occupy yourself. Good suggestions would be a book, tablet, music listening device, or puzzle games.
  • Hard candy: Dry mouth is a common side-effect of chemo. Bring some pieces of candy to moisten your mouth.
  • Anti-nausea medication: Nausea is also a common side-effect of chemo.
  • A friend: Probably the most important thing to bring. Friends can keep you company during the process and serve as a driver. Chemo is exhausting, and it’s not advised to drive yourself home afterwards.
