We have Certified Dementia Practitioners on Staff to meet with your family or your loved one. Our Caregivers receive enriched specialized training for working with Alzheimer’s and Dementia Patients.

In addition to videos and manuals, McKenney caregivers are sensitized through the use of the Virtual Alzheimer’s App. This virtual reality experience helps caregivers understand the feelings and experience of those suffering with Alzheimer’s and other forms of Dementia.

Maintaining a Routine

Routine is important for clients with Alzheimer’s or other dementias. Maintaining regular eating, sleeping patterns and taking medications timely and correctly will all contribute to feelings of calm. A Caregiver can prompt a client through the day to maintain the important routines.

Transportation and Managing Schedules

Keeping up with appointments and organizing social outings is important for maintaining good health and preventing social isolation, loneliness and depression. We are able to ensure a client gets to and from appointments, lunches, dinners, movies and shows.

Home Management

Regular housekeeping can prolong a person’s ability to live independently at home. A clean and organized home improves a person’s sense of well-being and therefore there state of mind.  We provide light cleaning, changing linens, laundry, washing dishes, trash removal and watering plants.

Meal Preparation and Companionship

Planning and cooking meals and shopping for groceries is difficult or impossible with Alzheimer’s or other dementias. Having someone join you in these activities is not only pleasant, but improves nutrition which leads to a client’s well-being.
